Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy medication used to treat various types of cancers, including sarcomas, some carcinomas (e.g SCLC, and ovarian cancer), lymphomas, and germ cell tumors. The cisplatin injection was the first member of its class, which now also includes oxaliplatin and carboplatin.
Cisplatin is usually administered by injection into a vein by a healthcare professional. The dosage is based on the patient's medical condition, size of the body, and response to treatment. Patients should not breastfeed while on the therapy with cisplatin injection.
