The Oakland A’s have kept their injured list from getting too long lately https://www.oaklandfanstoreonline.com/Elvis_Andrus_Pillow_Cover-297, but Thursday brought a worrisome development.Outfielder Mark Canha exited the game Thursday with a hip strain, reports insider Justice delos Santos. He will have an MRI on Friday.Canha started in LF and came to bat twice, but he was removed in the 3rd inning. The previous evening he’d gotten the day off, but did enter late as a pinch-hitter. More details from manager Bob Melvin, via Matt Kawahara of the S https://www.oaklandfanstoreonline.com/Elvis_Andrus_Pet_Jersey-300.F. Chronicle:“We had kind of planned for him anyway, for one day off on the turf, but after a couple at-bats today bothered him enough to where he had to take himself out of the game,” Melvin said. “So he’ll have an MRI tomorrow and we’ll see where we’re at.”Any missed time for Canha would be quite a setback for the A’s offense. He’s batted leadoff for most of the season and has been one of the most productive hitters in the lineup, his third star season in a row. His OBP is among the highest on the team, he makes contact, he hits for power, and he can cover all three outfield positions on defense.Canha: 137 wRC+, 11 HR, 12.4% BB, 21.1% Ks, .362 xwOBAThose stats add up to the second-highest WAR on the team, on both scales, behind only Matt Olson. The A’s have a lot of depth in their lineup and especially in the outfield, even with fellow outfielder Stephen Piscotty also out of action right now https://www.oaklandfanstoreonline.com/Matt_Chapman_Pillow_Cover-405, but Canha is one of the better players in the league and that’s always tough to replace. Hopefully he’s OK!Here’s the updated injury report, with one more bit of news at the bottom.RHP Mike Fiers, 60-day IL, elbow RHP Trevor Rosenthal, 60-day IL, thoracic outlet surgery RHP J.B. Wendelken, 10-day IL, oblique OF Stephen Piscotty, 10-day IL, wrist OF Mark Canha, day-to-day, hip MIke Fiers' visit to Dr. James Andrews showed no structural issue that would require surgery but Fiers will get a PRP injection and likely not resume throwing for up to four weeks, Bob Melvin said. #Athletics
