Trientine hydrochloride (HCL) is aimed to treat a certain inherited disorder (Wilson's disease). This disorder causes excess copper to build up in the liver, brain, and certain other organs. The trientine hydrochloride works by binding to copper, which helps the body get rid of additional copper. This can decrease signs and symptoms such as complications with speech, swallowing, coordination, tiredness, lack of appetite, abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, uncontrolled movements, muscle stiffness and fluid buildup in the legs/abdomen. Administer this medicine orally on an empty stomach, at least one hour before meals or two hours after meals as directed by your health specialist.
